Etelä-Saimaan artikkeli 5.3.2009 CASE in point
The Copper Smithy, Fiskars, Finland 30 November 2008 – 26 April 2009, Tue. – Sun. Noon – 5 p.m.
Boxes, containers and cases have fascinated people throughout the ages, and they are artefacts of wide range and diversity. The purpose of CASE in point is to find new ideas and forms related to the concept of the container. This exhibition features over a hundred objects and includes surprising materials and their combinations, new spatial interpretations and concepts related to storing and hiding things. Free association with the concept of the container provides an element of surprise and diverse interpretations of the theme.
Most of the pieces on display are new works by designers, artisans and artists that have not been shown to the public before. The exhibition will also feature two significant collections of containers. Assembled by the Artisans, Designers and Artists Cooperative of Fiskars CASE in point will occupy 400 square metres of exhibition space in the White Hall of the Copper Smithy at Fiskars. www.onoma.org/nayttelyt/rasia/rasiaen.htm Symbols of Faith
18 October 2008 - 18 January 2009 CODA Museum in Apeldoorn Vosselmanstraat 299 Apeldoorn, Alankomaat www.coda-apeldoorn.nl
The exhibition Symbols of Faith is the result of a design contest which was held for the second time in December 2007. This international contest was part of the SIERAAD International Jewellery Design Fair. Symbols of Faith fits in with the renewed interest in faith and spirituality, and shows how this can be disseminated using all kinds of materials and techniques. More than 330 jewellery designers from 31 countries took up the challenge of this theme. Five winners and seventy exhibitors were selected for this unusual exhibition by a technical jury. My Park
